Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Pathaan’ Tops Box Office

Pathaan, starring Shah Rukh Khan, is enjoying an incredible run at the box office and does not appear to be slowing down. According to trade analyst Ramesh Bala, Pathaan earned Rs 700 crore worldwide on its ninth day of release. The film made Rs 15 crore on its second Thursday, according to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, bringing its total domestic revenue to Rs 364 crore.

After a gap of more than four years, Shah Rukh made his big return to leading roles in Pathaan. In 2018, the actor appeared in Aanand L. Rai’s Zero. Pathaan, which also stars John Abraham and Deepika Padukone, is doing well in theaters, and since there are no big releases this weekend, it will probably continue to dominate the box office.

The story of the film, which was written by Shridhar Raghavan and Abbas Tyrewala from a story written by Anand, is about Pathaan, an exiled RAW agent who has to work with ISI agent Rubina to eliminate Jim, a former RAW agent who has become a traitor. Jim is planning to spread a deadly virus that has been created in a lab across India at the request of a Pakistani army general.

The film was shot in India, Afghanistan, Spain, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Russia, Italy, and France, among other places. Vishal–Shekhar composed two songs, and Sanchit Balhara and Ankit Balhara composed the music.

The music video, “Besharam Rang,” featured Padukone in a saffron bikini. This caused right-wing Hindutva groups to protest and an attempt was made to boycott the movie. After a few edits were made to the song sequence and a few minor changes were made to the movie, the Central Board of Film Certification granted the film permission to be shown.

On Wednesday, the movie made a fantastic start at the domestic box office, earning Rs 57 crore. Because it came out in the middle of the week, the movie had a five-day long weekend and managed to reach Rs 500 crore worldwide. This made it the highest-grossing Hindi film on its first weekend.

Pathaan, directed by Siddharth Anand, has only reached the Hindi dubbed versions of KGF Chapter 2 and Baahubali 2 in terms of domestic sales. Pathaan is close to surpassing Dangal’s total, which is currently Rs 387.38 crore (nett).

After Ek Tha Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai, and War, Pathaan is the fourth film in the YRF spy universe, which was just established recently. In Pathaan, Salman Khan made a cameo appearance as Tiger.

Atlee’s Jawan, starring Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi, and Rajkumar Hirani’s Dunki, starring Taapsee Pannu, will also feature SRK this year.
